IP vs 2-wire — which system for which building
For new builds and full refurbs we specify IP intercoms (Comelit Ultra, 2N IP Verso, Akuvox R29) on Cat6 with PoE — full HD video, smartphone call-forward, cloud-managed tenant lists. For occupied buildings where rewiring isn't practical, 2-wire systems (Comelit Simplebus 2) reuse existing pairs and deliver reliable colour video without new cabling.
HMO and apartment-block systems
Multi-tenant buildings need audio-visual entry at each communal door, individually addressable per unit, with in-apartment monitors that can also call between apartments (useful in student HMOs). Fire-brigade override, disability-compliant induction loops at entry panels and door-hold-open functions during fire alarm activation are all designed in.
Commercial reception and gate systems
For offices, industrial units and gated commercial sites we integrate video intercom with Paxton or Net2 access control, so a receptionist can grant entry from their desk PC, and after-hours calls forward to a duty phone. Vehicle-gate systems include number-plate-recognition options for supplier and staff automatic entry.
Integration with access control and CCTV
Intercom entry events log into the same Paxton or Net2 audit trail as key-fob entries, and every door-open event can be linked to a CCTV clip from the entry-panel camera. One reporting surface for every door event in the building.
Letting agent and property management workflow
For managed HMOs and blocks we set up web-based tenant management so your letting team can rename buttons, re-route calls to new tenants' phones, and revoke access codes without needing an engineer callout. Every change is logged.
